Blippo & Ichiban sushi

Today I went to town after my massage ( right shoulder liky liky a lot when someone tortures it :) ). I was going to try to find some nice Japanese restaurant to eat some food after the massage, just forgot that most restaurants are not open around 10 in the morning. Ended up walking around and finally finding my way to Kampi in Helsinki. Kampi is a large several floor high shopping mall with all kinds of shops in it. I am usually trying to avoid this place since there is a VERY nice game shop in it and I normally should NOT hang around those places or my wallet will get empty real fast. But I had heard about there being a shop that sells stuff that I before I saw it would say where kind of South Korean/Japanese merchandise based on Anime and Manga. Took me about 20 minutes of walking around the place before I found it on second floor in a corner of the mall. I was not allowed to take any photographs there but it does not matter since they have a lovely cute small homepage where you can order the merchandise from. Lucky for me you could choose the language on there homepage to either Finnish or English. You can find some bits and pieces for your Cosplay there, you can find Dolfies, music, you can even wallpaper your wall with a lot of wallscrolls. I just had to buy something small but I am afraid it will get me caught up in Anime merchandise buying.. well well, i bought it anyhow. A nice small Naruto necklace, not the one he has in the anime, but still a nice one. Since they did not have it for sale on there homepage I had to use my N900 to take a picture of it so please don’t cringe when you see the quality of the picture.

After I had been buying the necklace I went for brunch… or well… sushi at least. I have a small thing with sushi and well, Japanese food overall. See, I kind of have a hard time to eat Japanese food in restaurants that are not at least owned by Japanese people… and now people might be flaming me for that statement, but I do not care, I want my Japanese food to be prepared by a place that is at least owned by Japanese people and that is that! Well I know this one place, or they have actually two restaurants in Helsinki, its called Ichiban Sushi. It is a family owned restaurant business in Helsinki with two really good spots. There first place is a pretty small but very cozy place behind the national Art Museum in middle of Helsinki. The other one is in Kampi Shopping Mall where I went to. The people working in both places are very friendly and so far what I have noticed they all speak English, so a good place for tourists to visit if they feel they need to fill up on there sushi quota. I took a couple of pictures of the food I had but since I have never been good with a camera and this time I used my N900 phone to take the pics I decided that I would spare you the agony of the bad quality on those pics. So I let the pictures on Ichiban Sushi homepage speak for themselves, even though they are drawn.

You can find Ichiban Sushi at either Mikonkatu 8, 2nd floor or in Quick&Tasty area at Urho Kekkosenkatu 1
