About the author

Boban Alempijevic ( that is me ) resides in Nurmijärvi 40Km north of Helsinki in Finland, far from Japan and Tokyo. 31 years old, and moved to Finland on December 19, 2001, was born in a small village in Sweden by Serbian parents and grow up next to the sea on the west coast of Sweden. At age of seven his dad did a big mistake, he bought up a friends Asian movie and Asian cartoon storage, due to a liquidation of his movie rental business. Except a lot of Hong Kong movies starring Jackie Chan (That is still until this day the coolest action hero there is for Boban), a lot of old Japanese action movies where found amongst the Asian movies, but the best part was all the early 80s anime. Robotech and the one that got etched into the mind was an anime that lost its name over time but never the story, never the love for those two exotic looking Japanese girls that the main character was in love with but could not decide who he should be in love with most.

From age 10 I was truly stuck with watching anime and have by this day been watching so much that its impossible to even think of creating a list of everything that has passed my eyes. I guess that when it comes to anime it is the way the stories are told that is most captivating, and then comes the way they are drawn. Western cartoons just can not compete on the same level. From anime and the Asian movies a love for everything Asian grow slowly forward, first with Martial arts, then with wanting to know more and more about Japan. History, culture, samurai, tee ceremony, music, movies, anime you name it, it all started slowly to get my interest and its still growing, drawing me closer and closer to Japan.

So what do I do in life then? I work at a home for elderly people in Helsinki ( For those of you that don’t know Finland has two official languages, one is Finnish ( approximately 94% of the population has Finnish as their mother language) and the other one is Swedish. My workplace is a Swedish speaking one with Swedish speaking old people. Since 1999 I have been studying sociology, pedagogy, a lot of archaeology as well but I ended up choosing Sociology as my main interest and took my BA 2006 and am about to finish my MA in Sociology. I have been training karate as a teenager but am only training at the gym now a days ( a bit of a fanatic with the training lately so seeing me at the gym every second day is nothing strange ).

I have a problem with keeping my interest up with only one thing, since there is so much out there in the world that is so interesting I tend to try to do a lot of things at once and try to learn as much as possible since life is short and I don’t have time to sit around idle not learning

To understand what happens when people interact has driven me to not only sociology, but also thanks to interaction with people to want to learn about our world in a scientific way no matter what science it is. Physics, astronomy, biology, nano technology, robotics, medicine are only few of the areas that I find me self drawn to, if only there where time to learn about it all…

In the end I am a very emotional guy having a hard time to sit still, easily excited and with a ability to be overly impulsive and not ashamed to say that I do cry when movies are sad or even happy and I am a proud geek when it comes to IT and anime

Mostly…. mostly I am a Socially Cultural geek, I need to understand what makes a culture tick!
