Saturday ( to day ) 15th of October 2011 something happened that I never thought I would be part of up until today. Shihan Funakoshi, 9th Dan Shotokan Shihan and also fourth cousin of our Founder Gichin Funakoshi held a camp in Helsinki and I was there!
Begining of this year we became part of FSKA or Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association as it stands for. FSKA is founded and run by Shihan Funakoshi and all the sense’s that have there Dojos part of FSKA answer directly to Shihan with no border members in between. This way politics are avoided and also lets Shihan make sure that we train the way Shotokan was meant to be trained, with pure Spirit!

32 years old. Trained Shotokan Karate for Jumrukovski sensei at age of 13 to 14 and once again at age 18 to 19. Took up karate once again at age of 31, this time as well Shotokan karate but in Finland since I have been living here since December 19 2001. I have for some while now followed KaratebyJesse.com. Its a blog kept by.. you guessed so, Jesse, a sensei from Sweden. Now what I like about this blog is not the fact that Jesse is a sensei, it is more that he actually do keep on searching constantly more and more about the karate heritage and everything that has to do with karate.
This time around Jesse have been managing something that I simple have to say is amazing. He has managed to round up a LOT of big names within the Karate world, real big names that is, and get them to pitch in with there thoughts on Karate, no matter flavor. The end result: The Karate Code. I bought it through Amazon using Kindle and I have to say, holy mother of Karate!
Having a hip injury and not being able to train for the summer makes Read more [...]
